Introduction

Greetings,

I recently re-imagined my home office, with my cherished artwork from ISKCON prominently displayed above all. This piece depicts Krishna with two parrots, beautifully embodying a profound message from the Mundaka Upanishad. This Upanishad narrates the tale of two parrots: one savoring the fruit’s sweetness, symbolizing action (the enjoyer), and the other observing from afar, representing introspection (the observer). In a creative twist, this newsletter delves into my imagination of connecting my entire office setup to this theme, exploring its profound influence on the space.

Mundaka Upanishad Story of 2 parrots

1. The Central Theme: Krishna with Two Parrots

The image of Krishna with two parrots serves as the cornerstone of my office’s ethos. It’s more than just art; it’s a daily reminder of the fine line between being deeply immersed in my work and stepping back to reflect on the bigger picture. This duality of being both an active participant and a thoughtful observer is what I strive to embody in my professional life.

2. A Wall of Wisdom and Achievement

Lord Ganesha, symbolizing age-old wisdom, adorns another wall of my office. Above this depiction are the accolades and milestones of my career, each a testament to a journey marked by both active achievement and reflective growth.

3. The Dual Monitors

At my desk, dual monitors represent this narrative in a tangible form. One plunges me into the heart of technological challenges, capturing the essence of the ‘enjoyer’ in me. The other acts as a window to a wider perspective, allowing me to be the ‘observer,’ contemplating the broader implications of my endeavors.

4. The Ideation Space

My whiteboard is a dynamic realm where ideas are conceived and developed, mirroring the Upanishad’s dual nature of action and reflection. It’s where creativity meets critical thinking, forming a cradle for innovation.

5. The Rhythm of Duality

This theme extends to the clock-calendar combo in my office. The clock, with its relentless ticking, drives me into action, while the Bangalore Press monthly calendar provides a steady rhythm for strategic thinking and long-term planning.

6. Tools for Action and Reflection

An ordinary charging station and pen stand, subtly positioned, are vital to my workflow. They symbolize readiness, whether for immediate action or for thoughtful planning.

7. Gateways to Knowledge

The Metaportal and Kindle in my office open doors to diverse worlds of knowledge. They support my active engagement in current projects and fuel my passion for introspective learning.

8. Diverse Tech Ensemble

My office’s tech array – a Mac, PC, iPad, and OnePlus – showcases a blend of creativity and efficiency. The Mac’s creative flair complements the PC’s technical strength, while the iPad’s sleek design pairs with the OnePlus’s versatile functionality, creating a compact yet powerful toolkit for all my technological needs.

Closing Remarks

My office is a living embodiment of the story of the two parrots from the Mundaka Upanishad. Here, I engage deeply in the realm of technology and innovation as the ‘enjoyer,’ while also stepping back as the ‘observer’ to absorb the wider lessons and impacts of my endeavors. This space is a reminder that in the dance of life and profession, embracing both roles is key to holistic understanding and growth.
